I’m Danielle DeGroot, LCSW

Licensed in both New Jersey and New York.

I have been practicing in the mental health field for over 10 years and have had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings, including supportive housing, residential treatment centers, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs.

These diverse experiences have shaped the way I understand people’s challenges and the resilience it takes to move through them. Over the years, I’ve witnessed how powerful it can be when someone feels truly heard, supported, and given the right tools to create meaningful change in their life.

I started my practice with the vision of creating a safe and supportive space where individuals, couples, and families could find the understanding they need to heal and grow. After working in larger, more structured programs, I saw how important it is for therapy to feel personal and connected.

My goal has always been to provide care that is warm, approachable, and tailored to each client’s unique story. I believe that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. It should reflect who you are, what you’ve been through, and where you want to go.

My Therapeutic Approach

I am especially passionate about supporting people struggling with eating disorders, OCD, and the challenges of caregiving. These are areas where I have seen clients feel isolated or misunderstood, and my hope is to create a space where those experiences can be voiced without judgment.

Therapy with me is about more than symptom relief. It's about creating lasting change that helps you feel more grounded, balanced, and empowered. Whether you are working to heal your relationship with food, break free from cycles of worry and ritual, or find steadiness in the midst of caring for others, I am committed to walking alongside you.

The end goal of our work together is for you to feel not only better in the moment, but stronger and more confident in facing what life brings next. My clients often share that therapy helps them reconnect with themselves, discover new ways of coping, and begin to live more fully and authentically.

I know starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to feel unsure. My role is to meet you where you are, at your pace, and create a collaborative process where real growth can happen.
